Gentle Horsemanship Course

This intensive course in horse psychology provides information on the language, attitude and instincts of the horse as well as the gentle starting of a horse and the training of remedial horses. Our first goal is to gain the horse's trust which is a result of respect towards us. Having trust and attention we are able to communicate with the horse on a totally different level. Everything happens in a gentle way and still we are persistent. In this course you will learn how to be a leader which also includes your mental state of mind and your thoughts. You will learn not only about horses but also about yourself, how to become more self-confident and calm inside. Only when you are calm inside you can really talk to horses. Technically the course includes theory lessons, ground work, round pen demonstrations like how to start a horse under the saddle and how to help a horse with problems. The environment at Parkland Ranch is the perfect place to start a new relationship with your horse and with yourself. We have a very limited number of people in the course to ensure maximum learning and a family like atmosphere.

This course is intended for either the beginner or advanced rider. As the participants will receive individual instruction, they will be taught according to their own level of experience.

Daily yoga classes combined with groundwork and trail rides will allow you to deepen your understanding of yourself and your horse, improve your riding, or simply relax and rejuvenate.

Yoga classes will be led by Lisa Towson, certified Iyengar yoga teacher. She is owner of tamarack yoga centre in Dauphin (http://www.tamarackyoga.ca) and co-owner of Yoga North in Winnipeg (www.yoganorthwinnipeg.ca). Lisa began riding at Parkland Ranch; she felt an instant connection to Judith's approach to horses and riding.
